Guilty Gear Strive’s big 2.0 update is not coming to the Nintendo Switch

Since as far back as August of last year, Arc System Works have been teasing Guilty Gear Strive’s big 2.0 update. With the release finally set to arrive in just a couple days’ time, the team have now detailed all of the many changes coming alongside patch 2.0 – including the fact that Switch 1 owners will unfortunately be left out of the fun.

Releasing the latest set of patch notes to their site, the team at Arc System Works officially detailed Guilty Gear Strive’s big 2.0 update. The full list of changes is pretty extensive, however some of the most notable additions include:

  • Jam Kuradoberi as a playable character
  • New ‘Cradled by the Four Beasts’ DLC stage
  • Main menu design overhaul
  • Battle UI customisation
  • Additional R-Code customisation
  • Updated character select screen
  • Training mode improvements
  • Ranked mode reset adjustments
  • Multiple quality-of-life improvements
  • Wide-sweeping balance adjustments

As mentioned, the full list of changes is exhaustive, and can be found HERE. Unfortunately, those who play Strive on the OG Switch 1 won't be seeing any of these benefits, with Arc System Works confirming that the big 2.0 update pertains only to the PS4/5; Xbox One/Series; and PC.

Given that they will continue to support the last-gen releases of Strive, ceasing development on the Switch version is a shame to see – especially considering the fact that it only launched a little over a year ago.

Regardless, update 2.0 has been a long time coming, and so hopefully those who are able to experience this revamped version find plenty to enjoy. It will be interesting to see whether a Switch 2 version is eventually announced.
