The Resident Evil series is one of the most acclaimed and well-loved in the video games industry, with a majority of the franchise’s mainline releases being both commercial and critical juggernauts. That said, reception towards its many previous live-action adaptations have been largely mixed at best. Taking a more serious route with their latest efforts however, Zach Gregger’s original Resident Evil film has now gotten its first trailer.
Showcasing a tense couple of scenes filled with aura and strong cinematography, Capcom / Sony Pictures officially shared a first teaser trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil film.
Featuring the tagline of “a new era of evil” this film reboot looks to be taking the atmosphere in a much darker direction compared to the RE films from the 2000s.
Co-written and directed by Zach Gregger, the filmmaker is known best for his work on the 2025 hit Weapons – a supernatural mystery horror which went on to win countless awards including an Oscar and multiple Golden Globe nominations.
In case you missed it, this latest movie is confirmed to be an original entry which will feature its own unique characters and story “that still leaves everything [fans] love intact from the games.”
While it is still too early to tell, this first teaser trailer for Resident Evil presents a strong initial impression. Hopefully the movie itself proves to be a success.
