Square Enix gearing up for major Dragon Quest announcements

It has been years since Dragon Quest 12 was officially announced by Square Enix, with very little news coming out about the game since then. That may finally change very soon, as Square Enix has uploaded eight unlisted videos to its Dragon Quest playlist ahead of the upcoming DQ Day stream. 

Dragon Quest Day is a celebration of Square Enix's longest-running JRPG series. Dragon Quest 12 was first announced at DQ Day 2021, in celebration of the series' 35th anniversary. Now with the 40th anniversary event coming up on May 27th, fans are anticipating an official update on the game.

As spotted by u/darkwingchao on Reddit, Square Enix has updated its Dragon Quest video playlist on YouTube with eight unlisted videos. We obviously can't see anything about these videos yet, but now that we are five years on from the announcement of Dragon Quest 12, it is expected that the game is ready for a proper reveal.

It is also possible that Dragon Quest 11, one of the best-selling games in the series for western audiences, will get updated ports for current-gen consoles like the Nintendo Switch 2. Fans are also hoping to see a new Dragon Quest remake announced, following the success of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined.

KitGuru Says: Dragon Quest 11 was actually the first JRPG that kept me hooked all the way until the end. I've gone on to complete many other JRPGs since then, but it was DQ11 that finally made it all click for me. With that in mind, I have high hopes for Dragon Quest 12.
