11 years ago The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt released, quickly becoming one of the most celebrated games of all time while catapulting studio CD Projekt Red to new heights. A decade later and the open world RPG continues to be more popular than ever. Following the announcement that the game is set to receive a surprise 3rd expansion next year, CDPR have confirmed that The Witcher 3 has officially sold over 65 million copies.
Making the announcement as part of the studio’s Q1 2026 Earnings report, CDPR officially confirmed that since its release back in 2015, The Witcher 3 has sold over 65 million copies.
This puts it as one of the best selling games of all time, currently sitting between the original Super Mario Bros. (58 million) and Terraria (70 million copies sold) in 8th place.
For context, back in January of this year CDPR confirmed that TW3 had sold a total of 60 million copies, meaning a further 5 million were sold in the past 4 or so months alone.
Given that we’re set to receive a new major expansion over a decade on from Blood and Wine, it will be interesting to see how sales for the title continue to track over the next year in the lead-up to ‘Songs of the Past’s release.
