Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 is coming to Switch 2

It's official, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 will be the first title in the series to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. In a post this week, Activision confirmed its beta plans for the Switch 2 version of the game, confirming parity with other platforms. 

While many AAA games have come to the Switch 2 over the past year, more often than not, studios require extra development time on these versions due to the weaker hardware compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. That seemingly won't be the case for Modern Warfare 4.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Modern Warfare 4 will be available to pre-order starting on August 26th, but you won't have to pre-order the game to try it out before launch, as an open beta will be taking place two days later, on August 28th.

Call of Duty has skipped Nintendo platforms for more than a decade. However, when Microsoft acquired Activision a couple of years ago, it put plans into motion to bring the series back to Nintendo consoles, with content parity with other platforms like PC, PS5 and Xbox.

There are still plenty of details we don't know about the Switch 2 version of the game. We still need to see how well the graphics and performance hold up on a mobile system like the Switch 2. We also don't know what the plan is for Warzone just yet, which offers a much larger battle royale game mode, which is naturally more taxing on hardware.

KitGuru Says: I'm looking forward to seeing the comparisons between the Switch 2 edition and other versions of the game. Unfortunately due to the large file size of most COD titles, it is likely to eat up the vast majority of your Switch 2's 256GB of internal storage.
