Corsair has announced an upgraded lineup for its RMe Series power supplies, bundling the RM850e and RM1000e models with a ThermalProtect PCIe 5.1 600W 12V-2×6 GPU cable.
The refreshed RM850e and RM1000e units feature an upgraded Cybenetics Platinum efficiency rating, delivering up to 91% overall efficiency. Both models are ATX 3.1-certified and PCIe 5.1-compliant, using 105°C capacitors in a 140mm compact chassis. Fully modular cabling and Zero RPM fan mode for quiet operation at lower loads come standard.
Corsair's bundled ThermalProtect cable incorporates hardware embedded into a cable comb located 30mm from the GPU connector. This system monitors temperature and automatically triggers a GPU shutdown if cable heat exceeds 65°C to prevent hardware damage. Dual-tone connectors on each end offer visual confirmation of a secure fit.
Offered in black and white finishes, the updated power supplies require a graphics card with a native 12V-2×6 connector to utilise the ThermalProtect cable features. Corsair backs both the RM850e and RM1000e with a seven-year warranty. These PSUs are now available, with the RM850e costing £119.99/$139.99/€139.90 and the RM1000e costing £149.99/$179.99/€174.90.
KitGuru says: The updated RMe series PSUs bring some nice new features, namely the ThermalProtect cables and Cybenetics Platinum rating. However, those features come with an extra cost.
