It has been years since Ubisoft announced the Splinter Cell Remake and the publisher has gone through some major changes since then, including rounds of layoffs, studio closures and restructuring. At this point, you would be forgiven for assuming that the game was cancelled, but new signs of life have been discovered this week.
Insider Gaming has found a few different job listings Ubisoft is currently advertising, all for the Splinter Cell Remake project. This includes the very important role of producer, one who will be responsible for recruitment and building out a team.
Ubisoft is also looking for a lead level designer, which should ring some alarm bells. The game can't be all that far along in development if they still need someone to lead level design.
The Splinter Cell Remake was first announced back in 2021, but progress has been slow. Given that Ubisoft is still hiring for key roles, we can assume that the game is still in its pre-production phase, which means we won't be getting our hands on the game anytime soon.
KitGuru Says: It is great that this project isn't dead, but it should also be much further along at this stage. It has been almost five years since the announcement, but these job listings indicate that Ubisoft is still in the ‘figuring things out' phase, rather than moving ahead with meaningful development.
