Google Nexus 7 teardown reveals what is inside a $199 tablet

As is usual with the latest popular gadgets, iFixit has gotten their hands and tools on the Google Nexus 7 tablet manufactured by ASUS.

While we already know it has a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, a 7 inch 1280×800 IPS display and 1 GB of RAM the teardown reveals that the RAM used is actually the same type found in the MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The 16 Wh battery is easily replaceable, however a MHL chip for video output was not uncovered. There is actually two drivers instead of a single speaker as hinted at by the specification sheet which could offer a better audio experience.

The Nexus 7 got a repairability score of 7/10 which is just behind Amazon's Kindle Fire that scored 8/10. You can see the complete teardown complete with pictures here.
