Stormforce promises quality control improvements in statement to KitGuru

On Friday we published an article on the Stormforce Prism 1089 prebuilt gaming desktop. Unfortunately, we ran into issues with it pretty quickly in what can only be described as a significant quality control issue. A lack of care had been taken putting the system together. Now, Stormforce has acknowledged the issues and is looking to tighten things up before any more of these systems go out to paying customers.

Here is the statement from David Quick, head of Stormforce Gaming:

“We at Stormforce Gaming want to take this opportunity to apologise and thank the team at KitGuru for highlighting a build issue with our Prism 1089 PBM. We deeply regret to inform our valued customers and partners that in the recently published review we have identified build issues with some of the PCs recently shipped, these issues do not pertain to any of the components, which are of the highest quality and offers outstanding performance. We acknowledge that the quality of these builds did not meet our high standards, and for this, we sincerely apologise.

We understand that this situation is not acceptable and falls short of the expectations you have from us. We are committed to rectifying these mistakes immediately. Our team is working diligently to ensure that all affected customers receive the support and solutions they deserve. We also want to extend our apologies to our esteemed partner, MSI. This incident does not reflect the quality and reliability that both Stormforce Gaming and MSI stand for. We are taking steps to ensure that such issues do not occur in the future. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We are dedicated to regaining your trust and delivering the exceptional products and service you expect from Stormforce Gaming.”

Elanza Butters, E-commerce and Marketing Director at VIP-UK, parent company of Stormforce, also sent us the following via email:

‘As you will be aware we have launched a full investigation and as it stands, we have already started remedial action. All of our production team have been spoken to and as of this morning are undergoing rigorous training, this includes assembly, testing and QA employees. Furthermore we are in communication with Eurosoft to establish if a testing process can be implemented to identify issues such as this.

Regarding the issues highlighted, we fully accept responsibility for the GPU which has been installed in the wrong PCIe slot and memory which was incorrectly configured. In relation to the BIOS and the Drivers, we would like to bring to your attention that the BIOS installed was the latest available at the time of shipping and all drivers are installed. We do not install the full Nvidia package as it requires end-user licence agreements. This is also true for the MSI software suite. Both the Nvidia & MSI software will prompt the end-user to install after initial set-up. We would of course take onboard any recommendations or suggestions you may have to improve the customer experience.'

We will be getting a newly built version of this PC sent out for a reassessment, which Stormforce say they will ship to MSI first for validation, so stay tuned for an update from us in the near future.

KitGuru Says: A lot of the issues we came across in our review are easily fixed, as they had nothing to do with the components, but more the set-up and quality control of the build itself. We hope to see everything addressed when our second sample arrives.
