Nintendo 3DS preorders break Amazon UK console records

The Nintendo 3DS pre order sales figures are breaking all records on Amazon UK, outperforming the previous console leader, the Sony Playstation 3.

Chris Poad, the director of Video games at Amazon.co.uk said “It’s unusual for a handheld console to attract this amount of excitement in the run up to launch,” and that “Such high levels of interest are normally reserved for play-at-home hardware.”

This will certainly be silencing the critics who claim that public interest in the upcoming Nintendo console is muted, thanks in part to the high price. Amazon have cut the original pre order price by a further £10 to £187.

The United Kingdom is expected to receive 185,000 units for the Nintendo 3DS launch and apparently over 100,000 have already been preordered to date.

KitGuru says: If you want one for yourself when the console launches, you will need to move quickly.
