Lemonparty.org goes on sale for $450,000

Step right up, step right up, gather round, gather round. Folks, today I have for you the chance of a lifetime, nay, the business opportunity of the century, as a piece of internet history is hitting the auction block this very morning. Which piece you might ask? Why Lemonparty of course.

If you haven't heard of it yet, I won't be the one to link it to you, but suffice to say you probably don't want to Google it. It's a pretty tame bit of NSFW imagery that our hardened readers will no doubt barely bat an eyelid at, but in the early 2000s, along with the likes of Tubgirl and Goatse, Lemonparty represented the first wave of shock images which while now surpassed in vulgarity, have never really been reached by any other pictures in terms of notoriety.

“Great party chaps!”

According to the Buzzfeed interview with the site's owner (Warning, full NSFW version can be found there), he really isn't kidding when he says he wants nearly half a million dollars for the site. He may haggle, but a $100,000 offer would be turned down in short order apparently.

Of course the question remains though: why is he selling if the site's such a good earner? Chances are it's because the its traffic is falling. According to Alexa it hasn't been a “top site,” since mid-2012.

KitGuru Says: It'll be interesting to see if the site's owner is still keen to turn down 100k offers (if he even receives those) after a few weeks.
