Leak reveals OPN codes of AMD Ryzen 8040 mobile APUs

It looks like the OPN codes of the upcoming AMD Ryzen 8000 laptop APUs have been leaked. While the names of the processors have not been revealed yet, some assumptions can be made about what AMD has in store for next year.

The Hawk Point range is expected to refresh the Phoenix chips released earlier this year. Although the Zen4-based APUs were not released as soon as AMD had hoped, the Phoenix chips were able to take over the handheld market and are now widely available in various devices under the Ryzen Z1 series moniker.

The rumoured Ryzen 8040 series is expected to use the same Zen4/Zen4c/RDNA 3 architectural combination as Phoenix. According to @harukaze5179's latest findings, we know the OPN codes for the Ryzen 8040 series lineup. Moreover, the list confirms that the new series will use the same FP8, FP7, and FP7 R2 sockets as the current lineup.

Additionally, it seems that AMD will again split its product line for the 45W TDP range into the H-Series and HS-Series. When the 7000 series was introduced, AMD changed the HS series design to have a lower TDP than the H series. However, this designation was only applicable to specific regions. While the 7000HS APUs are available worldwide, the 7000H models are exclusive to the Chinese market. Since the new Hawk Point APUs have a similar naming scheme, we believe they'll follow the same course. Moreover, we'll also see that we'll get a U series with an expected 15W TDP and respective Pro variants.

It is rumoured that AMD plans to unveil the Zen4-powered Ryzen 8000 at CES 2024.
