Reader Review: BeQuiet! Dark Rock 2

Overall, the Dark Rock 2 is a good a CPU cooler, it offers decent performance with amazing acoustic performance.  It’s evident that be quiet! were aiming for near noiseless performance and the Dark Rock2 achieves this goal so well. Dark Rock 2 offers better thermal performance than its predecessor while maintaining noiseless operation.

The Dark Rock 2 is in second series of what I personally hope to be a long line of coolers, in future renditions they should focus on improving thermal performance while still focusing on the noiseless operation.

Be quiet! have quickly established themselves as a contender in the cooler market. While not touting the best performance, the Dark Rock Series only just compares with other high end air coolers like the Thermalright SilverArrow SB-E and the Phanteks PH-TC14PE, although the noiseless design makes up for it.

At a price of around £53.50 from Ebuyer.com, I believe that £53.50 is worth it because for what the Dark Rock 2 is missing in thermal performance, it makes up for with a very quiet design and aesthetically pleasing design.  If you’re looking for a good performance and quiet cooler for a high end build with little to no over clock, this is the way to go.

Pros

  • Whisper Quiet
  • Appealing Aesthetics
  • Good Price

Cons

  • No option for an extra fan
  • Not much of an increase in thermal performance from its predecessor
