be quiet! launches Pure Wings 3 fans with extra blades

The be quiet! Pure Wings 3 fans have officially arrived. With a low minimum rpm and high top-end speed, and additional fan blades over the standard 7-blade fan design, the Pure Wings 3 looks to be a good choice for improving airflow.

The Pure Wings 3 fan is available in two sizes (120mm and 140mm) and three different versions (3-pin, 4-pin PWM, and 4-pin PWM high-speed). The high-speed versions include a new closed-loop motor to stabilise the rpm regardless of resistance.

The Pure Wings 3's fan frame outlet has been redesigned to reduce air leakage, improving radiator performance in the process. Furthermore, the fan blades' angle was changed to create even more air pressure for additional cooling performance. However, the Pure Wings 3 isn't only recommended as a radiator fan. It also works well as a case fan. The airflow-optimised fan blades decrease turbulence (reducing noise) and ensure good performance. True to the company's name, the Pure Wings 3 fans are quiet due to their low starting rpm and have an 80,000-hour lifetime thanks to their rifle-bearing technology.

The Pure Wings 120mm PWM high-speed and 140mm PWM high-speed models come with nine blades (instead of seven) and are aimed at high-end systems, offering maximum speeds of 2100 rpm and 1600 rpm, respectively. As such, the air pressure can reach up to 2.41mm/H2O for the 120mm version and 2.44mm/H2O for the 140mm version. Also, the high-speed variants contain a unique closed-loop motor, similar to a cruise control in a vehicle. When operating against resistance, fans often spin slower. The closed-loop motor technology continuously checks the current rpm and, if required, raises it to the target speed. Pure Wings 3 will be available on November 7th, starting at £10.99/$9.99/€13.90
