AMD ‘Medusa’ chips to use 12-core Zen 6 CCD

Fresh leaks suggest that AMD's next-generation mobile and desktop platforms, named Medusa (Ridge, Point, Halo, and Range), will all be based on the same 12-core Zen 6 CCD.

This new CCD Zen 6-based solution will encompass various packages for different platforms. According to Moore's Law Is Dead, Medusa Point is expected to feature a single CCD, while Medusa Ridge will incorporate two. Medusa Halo and Range should follow the same core configuration as Medusa Ridge, as the current Halo and Range products have up to 16 cores.

Moreover, as the YouTuber also mentioned and @TDevilish corroborated, the four platforms — Medusa Ridge, Medusa Point, Medusa Halo, and Medusa Range — will use the same CCD. These products will differentiate themselves through varying package sizes, socket compatibility, and I/O dies tailored to their specific applications.

It's important to note that this information doesn't encompass 3D V-Cache versions or EPYC models. While they might share similarities, they could employ different dies and packaging processes. The AMD Medusa series is currently anticipated for release in 2026.
