AMD Ryzen 7000 mobile series to also include Zen 3 and Zen 4-based CPUs

There have been hints that AMD Ryzen 7000 mobile CPUs would feature Zen 4 (Ryzen 7x4x) and Zen 2 (Ryzen 7x2x) chips. Now, a new benchmark entry suggests the upcoming laptop CPU range will also include some Zen 3-based processors.

The SiSoftware Sandra entry spotted by @momomo_us shows us a Ryzen 5 7530U, which according to AMD's new nomenclature, is based on the Zen 3 (or Zen 3+) architecture (the ‘3' in the naming). The chip was running on an ASRock 4×4 mini-PC equipped with 64GB of Kingston DDR4-3200 memory.

According to the entry, the upcoming AMD chip will pack six cores and 12 threads clocked at a relatively conservative 2.0GHz (probably base clock). In addition, there's 512KB of L2 per core for cache, 3MB in total, and 16MB of L3 cache in the whole chip. Given the amount of L3 cache it has, the chip should definitely be a Zen 3 CPU. Seeing it has a ‘U' in the naming, this processor should be a low-power chip with a 15-28W TDP.

The Ryzen 7000 mobiles series is expected to be revealed at CES 2023, scheduled for 5th-8th January 2023.

KitGuru says: Using so many different architectures in the same series can confuse customers. Fortunately, AMD has already shared an image guide on how to read the naming of its CPUs and what each number means. Hopefully, that will help customers to avoid mistakes when deciding what CPU to choose.
