AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition Review

For this section of the review, we are comparing the AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition with the almost identically priced Intel Core i5 2500k. We overclock the X4 980 BE to the maximum figure we achieved (22x multiplier) – 4.4ghz, then we match this clock speed with the i5 2500k (44x multiplier).

At the same 4.4ghz clock speeds the Intel Core i5 2500k lengthens the lead by a huge margin, outperforming the X4 980 Black Edition easily in all of the synthetic benchmarks.
