CTR developer announces RDNA 2 GPU optimisation tool ‘Radeon Monster Profile’

After the success of the Ryzen DRAM Calculator and the Clock Tuner for Ryzen, 1usmus is now focusing all efforts on Hydra. The software development has been going on for some time, and it will soon receive a massive update that brings a new tool targeted at RDNA 2 graphics. Radeon Monster Profile works much like 1usmus's previous releases, allowing users to improve performance by adjusting the voltage settings using profiles.

In simple terms, the Radeon Monster Profile is a voltage/frequency curve optimizer for Radeon 6000 GPUs. According to the developer, the memory's operating voltage was reduced by 6%, reducing GDDR6 memory temperatures by a few ºC. Moreover, the requested GPU core frequency relative to operating voltage is increased to improve performance. In the Radeon RX 6800 XT's case, the frequency increased by 300MHz.

The profiles used by Radeon Monster Profile are universal and adaptive. Additionally, it doesn't affect the factory settings of your graphics card. Moreover, the tool won't change the card's operating voltage or power limits. The developer also points out that a decent cooling system is necessary, so it's only expected that custom cards will perform better than reference ones.

To give you an idea of the improvements, a stock Radeon RX 6800 XT has a peak power consumption of 255W at stock settings and scores 19,336 points on 3DMark Time Spy. Using RMP 305 profile, the peak power consumption increases to 305W and 3DMark Time Spy score increases to 21,433 points. With the RMP 370 profile, the GPU's peak power consumption is pushed to 370W, and the 3DMark Time Spy score hits the 22K mark, outperforming the RTX 3090 Ti at stock.

The new Hydra update featuring Radeon Monster Profiles is slated to release this Fall. Currently, the developer can't confirm if RMP will also work with RDNA 3 graphics cards, but we should hear more on that later in the year, once AMD launches the first RDNA 3 GPUs.
