PC retailer BOX enters administration following lawsuit

Box.co.uk is one of the better known UK-based PC retailers, having been bought out for an impressive £100 million last year. Unfortunately, it seems as though the company has run into legal troubles, forcing them to go into administration.

As reported by eTeknix, in the wake of the £100 million acquisition of Box by Tactus, the new owners actually turned round and filed a lawsuit against Box to the tune of £18 million for allegedly over-inflating their value prior to being acquired.

The situation Box have found themselves in has forced them to go into administration, with the company posting a banner at the top of their website saying: “Please note that Michael Lennon and Mark Blackman of Kroll Advisory Ltd were appointed Joint Administrators of Box Ltd on 19 January 2024. The business has ceased to trade and all enquiries should be directed to [email protected]. The Joint Administrators act as agents of the Company and without personal liability and both are licensed by the Insolvency Practitioners Association.”

Box has historically been a consistent and well-respected retailer and so this latest news comes as quite a surprise. Hopefully all the legal issues are able to be resolved – and that Box.co.uk will once again return to normalcy.
