Saints Row: The Third Remastered is free on the Epic Games Store

As part of Gamescom 2021’s Opening Night Live event, a reboot for the Saints Row series was announced, offering a look at what the team has planned for the future of the franchise – being positioned as a more grounded take on Saints Row. Those who wish to experience the Saints Row of old can now do so for free as Saints Row: The Third Remastered is available for free on the Epic Games Store.

Each week, the Epic Games Store offers a number of titles to all those with an Epic Games account for free. This week, on top of the previously announced Automachef being offered for free, the remastered version of Saints Row: The Third is being given away as a surprise gift. The reason for its surprise inclusion lines up with the announcement of the franchise reboot (which coincidentally or not is going to be exclusive to the Epic Games Store on PC).

Saints Row: The Third for many was when the franchise found its true identity. Originally positioned as a GTA clone, the franchise took a slightly different direction with the 3rd entry, offering all sorts of wacky weapons, crazy customisation, and more.

Saints Row: The Third is a great place for first timers to start, as the game offers just enough of the classic Saints Row uniqueness, without devolving into the complete anarchy seen in the later games. Saints Row: The Third Remastered is available to purchase for free from now until the 2nd of September, when it (and Automachef) will be replaced by Yoku’s Island Express.
