3DMark 2011 due for release

The extremely popular benchmark 3DMark is due for an update at the end of this month. Futuremark have announced the official launch date as November 30th 2010.

3DMark 2011 is a Direct X 11 only benchmark and is going to be made available in three versions, Basic, Advanced and Professional. The Basic version has access to four of the presets and won't cost a penny. Advanced is going to offer the full suite for $19.95 and the Professional Version is for companies and will retail for $995.00. Gulp.

There is plenty of MSI branding seen in the video below as they helped to fund the company (much in the same way Sapphire did with the last one).

If you are interested, you can pre-order it from this page on their site.

Rockstar apparently planned to let a Japanese studio make GTA: Tokyo before GTA V

Prior to Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar had a good stretch where it was releasing a new game every two years or so. As it turns out, during this time, Rockstar had been kicking around the idea of bringing in third-party studios to make Grand Theft Auto games set in other cities around the globe, with the biggest idea being Grand Theft Auto: Tokyo.

  1. The video looks kinda cool, but not sure these are quite as important anymore.

  2. It will be nice to have another DX11 benchmark, if it thrashes the hardware well. We have very few good DX11 benchmarks as it is .

  3. I bought lost planet 2 after seeing it used a lot in recent reviews here. the DX11 benchmark in that one is really good. quite intensive
