Borderlands 4 gameplay trailer reveals new hunters and familiar faces

Randy Pitchford confirmed last week that we would be getting a new Borderlands 4 trailer soon. As expected, that trailer went live during The Game Awards last night, giving us our first look at this next-gen Borderlands adventure.

Borderlands 4 will take players to a completely new location, introducing brand new characters, while keeping some familiar faces around like Claptrap and 9 Toes.

The official first look trailer is primarily cinematic, but there is some gameplay footage sprinkled in. The game promises more of what we've come to expect from this series, including a vast array of weapons, mayhem-fuelled action and lots of loot.

The game is set to release in 2025, but an exact date has not been given. This is a common theme for newly announced titles published by Take-Two, as the company has Grand Theft Auto 6 on the schedule for next year. Due to the immense impact of the GTA series, many other titles are moving their release dates around, or not revealing dates at all, in an effort to avoid releasing closely to Rockstar's latest game. Many companies fear that releasing their game around the same time as GTA 6 will lead to a sharp drop in sales.

KitGuru Says: You can throw me into any Borderlands game and I wouldn't be able to tell you if it was the first, second or third game. I hope that with Borderlands 4, there is a bit more of a hook than ‘more of the same'.
