It has been almost six years since the release of Gears 5, leaving fans with a lengthy wait for the next entry in Microsoft's famed third-person shooter franchise. While initially announced for 2025, it is now being reported that Gears E-Day will now be coming in 2026.
According to reliable leaker eXtas1s, Gears of War E-Day is now targeting a 2026 launch date. This lines up with another recent delay from Xbox, with the company confirming that Fable is also now releasing in 2026.
According to the source, this delay also lines the game up to release day-one on PS5, alongside PC and Xbox. Fable is also rumoured to be releasing day-one on PS5 now, following its delay to 2026. There is no word on a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 and it is unclear if any Microsoft studios have development kits for Nintendo's next console.
It is also suggested that the long-rumoured Gears of War Collection, packaging together the original trilogy, plus Gears of War Judgement, is due out this year. However, we've been hearing that for about a decade now, so I wouldn't hold my breath for that one.
KitGuru Says: Gears of War E-Day was a great surprise when it was announced last year. Given how packed this year is about to be, in no small part thanks to the impending release of GTA 6, I wouldn't be surprised to see more Xbox titles being pushed to 2026 to give them a better chance of making a big splash.
