Leaker claims Rockstar is developing a new GTA 4 port

There are already rumours going around that Liberty City will appear in Grand Theft Auto 6. However, it turns out Rockstar may have something bigger planned, as rumours claim that a new version of GTA 4 will be releasing.

According to long-time Rockstar leaker, Tez2, Rockstar has been working on a new version of GTA 4 for a year already. This new port of the game for modern consoles is cited as the reason behind Take-Two's decision to issue a DMCA takedown notice against the Liberty City revival project, a fan-led effort to bring the Liberty City map into GTA 5.

It is claimed that the new GTA 4 port will come out next year. However, that timing could be up in the air now, as Rockstar recently confirmed that GTA 6 will be coming out in May 2026.

It is also claimed that a port of Max Payne 3 will also be coming out once development on GTA 4 has wrapped up. This is all said to be part of Rockstar's effort to make its back-catalogue titles playable on modern consoles, which began with the GTA Definitive Edition trilogy, followed by the release of Red Dead Redemption for PC, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

KitGuru Says: This is being labelled as a port, so don't expect a major graphical overhaul. It should be similar in scope to the recent re-release of Red Dead Redemption 1.
