Microsoft ends development of Minecraft Dungeons

Minecraft Dungeons launched across all platforms a few years ago and has continued to receive updates since. However, it is time for Mojang to move on to other projects, bringing development on Dungeons to an end.

This week, Mojang confirmed that Update 1.17 will be the final patch for Minecraft Dungeons. The game will still be playable online for the foreseeable future though, so if you are one of the game's 25 million players, you don't have to worry about losing access to anything.

Minecraft Dungeons first released in 2020 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. Later down the line, an Xbox Series X/S enhanced version arrived but we did not see a native PS5 version of the game and now, we likely never will.

Minecraft Dungeons will continue to be available to players on all platforms and through Xbox Game Pass, as well as the game's six expansions, which add additional new story content.

KitGuru Says: Minecraft Dungeons did turn out to be quite fun and I do hope we continue to see Minecraft spin-offs in the years ahead. We just recently had Minecraft Legends so it will be interesting to see what Mojang comes up with next.
