Microsoft reportedly working on multiple ‘Transformers’ games

Activision has made many beloved licensed games over the years, most of which have been lost to time. With Microsoft now set to acquire Activision this year, there is some hope that we'll see some classic games return. Hasbro has already publicly said it wants Microsoft to bring back some of the Activision-published Transformers games, and now, it is claimed that Microsoft Studios are indeed working on Transformers-related projects.

Due to licenses expiring, Activision's old Transformers games like Fall of Cybertron, Rise of the Dark Spark, War for Cybertron and Transformers: Devastation are all unavailable to purchase. In an interview last year, prior to Microsoft completing its acquisition of Activison, Hasbro expressed a desire to see those games return in some form if the Microsoft-Activision deal goes through.

Now, just over a year later, an old Transformers fan forum has thrown something new into the rumour mill – apparently, Microsoft is actively working on two Transformers projects.

It is expected that these are going to be re-releases of older, now unavailable Transformers titles, War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron, rather than a brand new game. However, there is little evidence to confirm these claims at this point in time, outside of the fact that Hasbro actively voiced a desire to bring the old Activision-published games back.

KitGuru Says: Transformers Armada on the PS2 is another older Transformers game I would like to see make a comeback, although with that game being so old, it would likely need to be a full remake, with plenty of changes to bring it up to modern standards.
