Nic Cage officially arrives in Dead by Daylight

Following on from an announcement a couple of months ago, Nicolas Cage is now officially playable as a new survivor character in Dead by Daylight. Following on from a few weeks of testing in the PTR server, the DLC is now officially available.

As of the 25th of July, the Nicolas Cage survivor DLC for Dead by Daylight is now available. The character went through a few weeks of testing in Dead by Daylight's Public Test Realm, a separate version of the game only available on PC, in which players can openly test upcoming patches and updates ahead of their full public release.

While Dead by Daylight typically focuses on licensed crossovers with other horror franchises, like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Stranger Things, SAW, Scream and a ton of others, this is the first time we've seen Behaviour Interactive try something like this. Now this isn't Nicolas Cage the person/celebrity, but rather “an exaggerated version of a film actor called Nic Cage”.

In Dead by Daylight, Cage is an actor who has been tricked into the situation. Cage has three unique abilities – Dramaturgy, Scene Partner and Plot Twist, with each one playing on the Actor theme.

With Dramaturgy, Cage can gain a burst of speed for a couple of seconds, which can be handy when trying to escape the killer. Scene Partner allows Cage to see the Killer's aura for a few seconds but the downside to the ability is that Cage will scream, revealing your position. Finally, the Plot Twist ability allows Cage to feign death while injured, then when you recover you gain full health and Haste for a number of seconds, giving you the opportunity to get away from the killer.

This week's Dead by Daylight patch also introduces other fixes and balance changes, so if you're an active player, be sure to check the full notes.
