Saber hints at 2028 for KOTOR Remake

A while back after years of silence, Saber Interactive confirmed that the KOTOR Remake is still in active development. Now, we have a much-needed update. The good news is that there is now a tentative release window that we can keep in mind, but the bad news is it is still years away.

As spotted by PCGamer, Saber Interactive's Chief Business Officer, Steve Allison, recently told fans that he is currently preparing the lineup of self-published titles for 2028, which will include “Space Marine, John Wick, hopefully KOTOR Remake and a few unannounced titles”.

Now it is worth point out that he likely means Fiscal Year 2028 and not Calendar Year 2028, so technically a Q1 2029 calendar release for KOTOR Remake would still be within the 2028 fiscal year timeframe. It is also worth noting that he said ‘hopefully' KOTOR Remake will be ready by then, so there is still some uncertainty over how long the rest of development is going to take.

At any rate, Saber Interactive is likely looking to get the game out before Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, a spiritual successor to the KOTOR games, helmed by Casey Hudson, one of the original creative leads behind Knights of the Old Republic. Hudson has previously said that his game will be ready before 2030.

KitGuru Says: We've been waiting many years already for the KOTOR Remake, so another couple of years won't hurt. If the game is on track for 2028, then we may finally get a first look at the game sometime next year.
