Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is getting more free character DLCs

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds flew under the radar a little bit when it launched, in part due to coming out in a similar timeframe to Super Mario Kart World. However, Sega's party racer has had a very impressive first year on the market due to a massive number of free content updates. As we move into Year Two for the game, Sega says it has no plans on stopping the free updates. 

After releasing Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year One Edition earlier this month, Sega has confirmed its plans for additional DLCs over the next year, including free characters. During its first year, the game received a whopping 13 free characters, introducing many characters from other Sega IP, like Yakuza and Persona.

For Year Two, the development team will be introducing more free characters, starting with Bayonetta. There will also be a series of paid DLCs coming, including one that adds Avatar characters like Aang to the game. There will also be crossover DLCs with the likes of Evangelion and Godzilla.

The next paid DLC for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is due in October, with more to follow in 2027. Free updates will also be added in-between these DLCs, so whether you just own the base game or the season pass, you'll have new content to look forward to.
