The Coalition tech demo showcases Unreal Engine 5 on Xbox Series X

Unreal Engine 5 has been available to some developers in early access for a while now. We've seen what the engine can do on PS5 hardware and now, we have a new demo showcasing the technology running on an Xbox Series X.

Xbox Game Studios' Gears of War specialists, The Coalition, have created a new technical demo on Unreal Engine 5, known as Alpha Point. Initially, the demo was shown at GDC 2021 last week, but the demo has now been made public for the first time:

Aside from Alpha Point, The Coalition has also created a character rendering test, giving us a look at what next-generation human characters could look like with Unreal Engine 5 pushed to its limits.

The Coalition's technical demonstrations are particularly noteworthy, as the studio garnered an excellent reputation for getting the most out of Unreal Engine 4 with Gears 4 and Gears 5. Unfortunately, both of these tech demos are just that, technical demonstrations and not teasers for an upcoming new game. With that said, The Coalition is said to be working on a brand new IP at the moment, which we'll see later in this console generation.

KitGuru Says: Unreal Engine 5 continues to look highly impressive, but it will be a while before we see the first full game running on the engine.
