This year’s Call of Duty game to be revealed in August

Last year, it was widely reported that Activision would be skipping Call of Duty in 2023, instead opting for a premium expansion for Modern Warfare 2 with new maps to refresh the game for another year. Somewhere along the way, Activision seemed to scrap this idea in favour of turning the expansion into its own full-fledged game.

This week, Insider Gaming sources claimed that this year's Call of Duty will be revealed in August, an unusually late reveal for the franchise, which typically unveils new games in the early summer each year.

Interestingly, an additional leak has claimed more details. While Sledgehammer started off working on an expansion for Modern Warfare 2, it is now claimed that this year's game will be a full sequel to Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2, and it will be titled Modern Warfare 3.

According to the schedule leak, the announcement will come in August, followed by a round of beta tests in October. Then, the game should fully release in November.

KitGuru Says: Given how widely it has been reported that this year's Call of Duty was supposed to be DLC for the current game, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a little extra scrutiny hovering over this year's release.
