The new Steam Controller launched on Monday as planned, but it sold out instantly and ended up in the hands of a number of scalpers trying to charge hundreds for it. Valve has admitted that demand was higher than it expected, but more stock is on the way.
In a message shared on social media, Valve said that the Steam Controller “ran out faster than we anticipated”, adding that the company hates that “not everyone who wanted one was able to get it”.
While some are now trying to flip the Steam Controller for hundreds of pounds in the UK, with similar pricing hitting the US and other regions, there is no need to pay these extortionate prices. Valve says that more stock is on the way and a timeline will be dropping soon.
Valve also appears to be preparing for its other hardware launches at the moment, with import records showing that tonnes of ‘game consoles' arrived on US shores this month.
