Xenoblade Chronicles X finally coming to Nintendo Switch

At this point, all of the Xenoblade Chronicles games are available to play on Nintendo Switch, with one notable exception. Xenoblade Chronicles X was originally developed for the Wii U and has remained exclusive to that system ever since. Now, the game is getting the Definitive Edition treatment on Nintendo Switch.

In a surprise announcement last night, Nintendo revealed Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. It is set to launch on the 20th of March 2025, with enhanced visuals, extra story elements and more.

This game originally released in 2015 and was part of a late push of first-party games for the Wii U. That same year saw Super Mario Maker release, which was a GOTY contender that year.

Fans have been asking for Xenoblade Chronicles X on Nintendo Switch ever since the console's first year on the market, which saw the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Discussions about Xenoblade Chronicles X on Switch were revived with each subsequent release, including Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and the more recent Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

The release will mark the first time that the complete Xenoblade Chronicles collection was available on one platform. Hopefully these games carry over to Nintendo's Switch successor, which is expected to launch in 2025.

KitGuru Says: The Xenoblade Chronicles games are some of my favourite JRPGs but due to Xenoblade Chronicles X only being on Wii U, I never had the chance to play it. I'm glad to see that finally change in a few months time.
