Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection sells 1 million copies in two weeks

The Mega Man franchise holds a special place in many people’s hearts, with Rock Man’s various sub-series and genres each seeing their own niche of supporters within the fandom. One of the more prominent Mega Man spin-offs was the Battle Network series. Originally released on Game Boy Advance, the complete Battle Network collection was recently brought to modern consoles – to great success as it has already passed 1 million copies sold.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Mega Man account revealed (as translated by Reset Era user ‘–R’) that “the total worldwide sales of ‘Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection’ Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 together have surpassed 1 million units!” saying “Thank you all for your support! We hope you will enjoy Legacy Collection, that contains 10 titles during Golden Week!”

For the uninitiated, Mega Man Battle Network trades in the run-and-gun platforming of the original games for a tactical RPG experience set in an alternate continuity “where computers and networking technology was the main focus on scientific advancement, rather than robotics.”

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection officially released just a few short weeks ago on the 14th of April, and so to see it already surpassing 1 million copies sold is impressive indeed – especially considering the fact that it is relatively little more than a simple compilation of the GBA titles.

We have seen very few new Mega Man games released in recent years. That said, with the rapid success of the Battle Network Legacy Collection it would not be surprising to see an announcement for Mega Man Battle Network 7 at some point in the future. We will have to wait and see.
