New Dead Cells update adds Hotline Miami, Shovel Knight and many more characters

Released all the way back in 2018, Dead Cells is a rogue-lite metroidvania-inspired action platformer featuring fast and frantic combat alongside a near endless number of unique weapons. Since its release, the game has received consistent content updates, with the latest patch seeing multiple new weapons, skills and skins added based on a whole host of popular indie franchises.

This time last year, the team at Motion Twin announced its ‘Everyone is Here update’ for Dead Cells, in which new weapons, skills and even skins were added for free based on the indie games Hollow Knight; Hyper Light Drifter; Blasphemous; Guacamelee; Skul: The Hero Slayer and Curse of the Dead Gods.

Now, the team has announced even more characters joining the game, with the devs saying “We're back with another indie crossover update – Everyone is Here Vol. II! We've added more weapons, skills and skins from our favourite indie games, so thanks to all the studios that let us add a piece of their creations to Dead Cells.”

With that, the list of additional games which are crossing over with Dead Cells is as follows:

  • Terraria
  • Shovel Knight
  • Hotline Miami
  • Katana ZERO
  • Slay the Spire
  • Risk of Rain

As mentioned, each of these crossovers include a character skin, a new weapon and a new skill – and the best part is that it is all free. Dead Cells has continued to get constant updates over the past 4 years, and while some of them are paid, it is nice to see so much content being offered for free. We also know that 2023 is going to be the biggest year yet for the game, and so it is clear that Dead Cells is going stronger than ever.
