The first next-gen Xbox game ever shown is also coming to Switch

Bright Memory: Infinite kicked off Microsoft’s first Xbox Series X|S game showcase back in mid-2020. Two years on, the game is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 on the 21st of July. Interestingly, this ‘next-gen’ game is also coming to Nintendo Switch on the same day.

Described as “an epic fusion of the FPS and action genres,” Bright Memory: Infinite is set to release on the 21st of July 2022 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5…and Nintendo Switch.

Admittedly, the game is rather small in scale, and so as far as next-gen experiences go, it is unlikely to tax the systems, but even so it coming to Switch is curious – especially as it seems the game is not coming to PS4 or Xbox One.

That being said, official gameplay footage of the game running on Switch has been released and it seems to run at a dynamic 1080p and 60fps – at least in TV mode. The developer did not offer performance details for the game’s handheld mode, however. Still, getting this next-gen title to run at up to 1080p and 60fps on the Switch is an impressive feat.

Of course, the Xbox Series X and PS5 versions will push the game far beyond this, offering ray tracing at 60fps, or a 120fps performance mode. That being said, the Switch version looks rather impressive considering the hardware, and with the game confirmed to offer temporal anti-aliasing as well as motion controls, the Switch release seems to go above and beyond what is expected from this now aging system.
