Android event in New York cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy

While the presidential race may be taking up many news slots, the other big news from the United States recently has been Hurricane Sandy. According to reports the storm is set to cause in excess of a billion dollars in damage. Now, the same storm system has prevented Monday's Android event from taking place.

On a lighter note, here's Sandy from SpongeBob SquarePants.

“We are cancelling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more.”

It makes a lot in sense in respect to safety as the event was set to be held on New York's waterfront. This also means that the unveiling of the Nexus 4, new Nexus 7 models and the Nexus 10 will be delayed. While it is entirely possible that Google will launch the devices without a press event, that will be sure to take some of the buzz away from the devices.

KitGuru says: While it is somewhat disappointing we won't see any new Nexus models tomorrow, the decision has been made with safety in mind.
