Going cheap – iPad’s hit ebay before iPad 3 launch

Well we predicted this would happen weeks ago, and sure enough in the run up to the iPad 3 launch, everyone and their mother is trying to sell their Apple tablet. According to reports from CNet, Ebay made over 125,000 tablet trade in offers in February, and 97.6 percent of these were Apple's iPad.

The first generation iPad 3G is the most commonly traded in iPad, followed by the Wi-Fi original iPad. As we thought, the number of first generation iPad's up for sale has dramatically increased, indicating that people are wanting the upcoming iPad3, as it is seen as a more significant upgrade than V2.

Apple have confirmed yesterday that March 7th will be the unveiling date for the new tablet. They have sent out invitations to the press for a media event on this date which takes place at 10 am pacific at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

The biggest talking point is the ‘retina' style screen which has quadrupled the pixel count, with a staggering resolution of 2,048×1,536. This outclasses any other tablet on the market today by a significant margin. The cost of the iPad 3 is said to go up marginally due to the extra cost of production. Apple are also upgrading the GPU and GPU hardware inside the tablet to deal with the higher pixel count.

Kitguru says: If you are in the market for a bargain, we recommend you keep your eye on ebay, there will be some great deals available for the iPad 2.
