Microsoft suspend Phone 7.8 update: Nokia confirm

Microsoft have suspended the distribution of Windows Phone 7.8 to older Lumia devices, including the Lumia 800. Nokia have confirmed the delay on the official Russian Twitter account.

A week earlier, Joe Belfiore Manager of the Windows Phone program confirmed on Twitter that Microsoft had identified a minor problem with the code and are working on a fix to resolve it.

Vodafone Germany said they were halting the Windows Phone 7.8 update although no details were mentioned at the time if it was related to an update problem. Microsoft employees since acknowledged the concerns.

V7.8 brings some new features to the phones, some of which were rolled out in Windows Phone 8 in recent months. There is a new start screen for instance with resizeable live tiles. Theme and accent colours are doubled to 20 with new lock screen features.

It also brings Windows Phone 8 branding to Lumia devices on the splash screen and icons for Games, Office and Windows Phone Store.

Kitguru says: It should be coming in the near future.
