Cinebench R23 multi-core score of AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS puts it on par with the Intel Core i9-12900H

The same leaker behind a recent Radeon 780M benchmark has now revealed the first Cinebench R23 results for the upcoming Ryzen 7 7840HS laptop processor, giving us an early look at performance.

The screenshot shared on Bilibili (via VideoCardz) shows the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS was running on a Windows 10 Pro-based system. Sadly, the single-core result was censored, but the multi-core score is visible, showing a score of 16,854 points.

Compared to its predecessor, the Ryzen 7 6800H, we see a 26% multi-core performance improvement. For comparison, the Ryzen 7 7840HS performs similarly to the Intel Core i9-12900H in Cinebench R23.

The Ryzen 7 7840HS is a Zen 4-based CPU with 8x cores and 16x threads featuring a base clock of 3.8GHz that can boost up to 5.1GHz. The Ryzen 9 7940HS is also on the way, which features a slightly higher clock speed, so it should score slightly higher. AMD plans to launch the Ryzen 7000HS series in March.

KitGuru says: Considering there's still some time before the release of the Ryzen 7000HS powered laptops, AMD can still optimise the drivers for these chips and hopefully improve performance further.
