Google Glass kits reach developers – media hits web

As we reported earlier this week we reported that Google would start shipping their first batch of the Explorer Edition of Glass. Last night the first pictures hit the web, as developers received their products in the mail.

Some people have commented on the simple packaging of the item, which seems to be taking cues from Apple. Inside the box is a carrying pouch, attachable shades, a clear visor, a microUSB cable and charger. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vetiQ9JFRws']

One user Matt Abdou from San Jose has uploaded a video to Youtube showing him on a go cart track, wearing the glass, filming the experience. The 720p video seems very good quality, although as other people have mentioned a little stabilization would have helped.

The video highlights that the glasses may have slipping, as his hand rises to adjust them. A risky proposition for a $1,500 product.

Google have released specifications for the product, earlier this week. It has a 5 megapixel camera onboard with 16GB of memory (12GB usable) and has both Bluetooth and Wi-fi capability.

Kitguru says: Google are said to be on track to release the product to the public later this year or in early 2014. UK pricing? over a grand.
