Terraria 2 is coming

2D blocky builder, Terraria, received its 1.2 patch yesterday, adding in a ton of new content including: 250 new items, 20 vanity sets, 10 new wings, new biomes, new tiles and 60 aesthetic changes. Despite the recent overhaul, lead developer, Redigit, is looking to the future after confirming he has been working on Terraria 2 for the past few months.

We knew Redigit along with a few other original team members had left Terraria development behind to work on the studio's next project, we just didn't know what that project was until now. Upon announcement Redigit had this to say:

“I’m super excited about starting Terraria 2. It’s a ways out, but it’s gonna have a lot in common with the original. It’s gonna be quite different as well. I really want to expand on the whole Terraria universe. There’s a lot of stuff I’m locked into with Terraria. The way loot works, the way character progression works. In Terraria 2, I really want to have infinite worlds so you’re not just stuck to one world. You can travel anywhere. I want more biome diversity in that, too. There’s a lot of stuff I want to add and change.”

Most of the original Terraria development team are on board and involved with the second game. The original Terraria has become very successful, gaining tons of support and players on multiple platforms after the console ports were released.

KitGuru Says: I just recently started enjoying Terraria after leaving it sat in my Steam library for too long. I like it and hopefully I will get as much enjoyment as I can out of it before the new one comes around. Did you guys like Terraria?

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.

  1. It will be interesting to see if Terraria 2 or Starbound comes out on top. Starbound is being led by Tiy, the former sprite artist of Terraria. Really excited for both, hopefully T2 will offer something different than Starbound.
