No Halo 4 on PC

Halo 4 will not be coming to the PC platform, Microsoft has confirmed, stating that it was designed from the ground up as an Xbox 360 title and that's where it would stay.

“Halo 4 was designed specifically for Xbox 360, and while we’re always exploring new ways to expand the franchise and share the Halo experience with as many fans as possible, we do not currently have any plans to port Halo 4 to PC,“ a Microsoft spokesperson told the Penny Arcade Report.

While this is dissapointing, especially if you were hoping for an even better looking game with super hi-res textures and the like, there is a precedent for this. Halo 2 was the last game in the franchise to make it to the PC and even that was delayed massively. The original Halo PC  version, which promised added features didn't deliver on a lot of them, so perhaps the Halo 4 announcement was to be expected.

Still, with Windows 8 now released, the lack of support is interesting, since you'd think Microsoft would be keen to have its biggest ever console franchise representing its new OS.

The Halo 4 launch event yesterday at 12am was a big one. With celebrities, a Forerunner logo in the sky and a real life Master Chief.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.

  1. That’s so cr.. I mean bad!! Halo an all time favourite by most gamers and the fact that it isn’t coming to all PC gamers, and there’s a lot of us, will significantly reduce the number of consumers. Oh well.. hopefully Halo 5 will get to us 😀
