Resident Evil 4 Remake reaches new sales milestone

Back in October of last year, Capcom officially confirmed that their latest and greatest Resident Evil entry – Resident Evil 4 Remake – had reached a new sales milestone of 8 million copies. Just a few months later, the game has managed to hit another major milestone – now sitting at over 9 million copies sold.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Capcom page celebrated this latest milestone, saying “To you, the 9 million-plus agents, Happy New Year and thank you for your support. RE4 Team.”

While only officially announced recently, this 9 million figure was actually achieved back in late December of last year (more specifically the 19th) and so it’s possible that the game is now nearing the all-important 10 million sales milestone.

For context, 9 million copies sold puts Resident Evil 4 Remake as one of Capcom’s best-selling games of all time, currently resting at 10th place between Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak (8.8 million) and Resident Evil 3 Remake (9.2 million).

As stated however, given the slightly outdated nature of the figures released, RE4 Remake could easily already be the 7th-best selling Capcom game of all time – beating out RE6 (9.3 million) and RE5 (9.4 million).

When all is said and done, Resident Evil 4 Remake could crack Capcom’s top 5 best-selling games ever, though it would have to surpass Iceborne’s 14 million copies to do so.

We will have to wait and see – but given how RE4 Remake is less than two years old at this point, there is plenty of time left to achieve this target.
