Apple chief patent lawyer to leave

Reuters are claiming that Apple's chief patent lawyer is soon to leave the company, according to an unknown source who is familiar with the situation.

Richard Lutton Junior, also known as ‘chip' looks after the iPod and iPad patent portfolio and as yet there is no information as to why he is leaving the company. BJ Watrous, a former deputy general counsel with Hewlett Packard has been listed as chief IP counsel on his Linkedin webpage.

BJ Watrous - heading to Apple

Reuters say that neither Apple or Lutton have responded to requests on this story. Lutton's voice mail was apparently still active yesterday when called, but he will be leaving Apple as early as next month, according to Reuter's sources.

Kitguru says: Watrous has earned a good reputation with Hewlett Packard over the years.
