Black Myth: Wukong has sold over 18 million copies

Once viewed as vapourware, Black Myth: Wukong finally released on the 20th of August to a massive wave of success, selling over 10 million copies in its first 3 days and becoming the 2nd most concurrently-played game of all time on Steam – with more than 3 million concurrents across PC and PS5. Just one week on and the game has not slowed down, having now officially sold over 18 million copies.

As reported by Bloomberg, the Game Science-developed action Souls-like Black Myth: Wukong has continued to sell like gangbusters, with the publication revealing that since its launch on the 20th of August, the game has surpassed 18 million copies sold – immediately pushing it to become one of the fastest-selling games of all time.

With an audience of almost 20 million players already, the team at Game Science have confirmed that they are working on more content for the game; specifically a Shadow of the Erdtree-type expansion.

Black Myth: Wukong is easily the biggest surprise hit of 2024, and if its sales continue to perform as it has been, then it could very well also become one of the best-selling games of all time. We likely won’t have to wait long to find out.

While this has worked in the past, Black Ops 7 seems to have been a breaking point for some. According to known insiders, Microsoft is now considering a major shake-up, including a standalone Zombies game.
