Gmail users wake up to find all emails gone

Some users have woken up today to find that all their Gmail emails have been wiped. So far only 0.8% of the user base has been affected, however that is little consolation to those who have lost thousands of emails.

Users have already been running to the Google Help Forums to put forward their concerns. So far it seems that some Gmail accounts are resetting to how they first appeared when the user had the account. Google have reacted quickly saying that the initial 1.5% of users that were affected is now only 0.8%, or between 100,000 and 200,000 people.

They also released a statement saying:

“Google Mail service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change.”

An issue like this highlights the need to back up email data, and you can do this by visiting the Gmail settings/Offline tab to download all the emails and data you have in the accuont. Might be a good idea to do that now before anything else might happen.

Valve reveals Steam Machine verification requirements

One feature introduced with the Steam Deck was the notion of games being Steam Deck verified – giving users an easy indicator as to which titles should and should not run on the gaming handheld. With the upcoming Steam Machine, it appears Valve is taking a similar approach; this time offering more concrete compatibility requirements.
