Will Nintendo stop developing for the Wii ?

Nintendo are putting all their efforts into the new Wii U and The Nintendo 3DS. At the recent press conference they held the Wii was not even a point of focus at all. Is the Wii finally at the end of its cycle? Gamepro have an interesting article up on the subject.

At Nintendo's E3 roundtable event, Shigeru Miyamoto did acknowledge that his team was going to move onto new things although he would say if Skyward Sword will be the last Wii game developed by Nintendo.

He said “From my perspective, I feel one of my biggest responsibilities is to be developing for the newest upcoming platforms. So from my team's perspective, it's not the last but perhaps one of the last titles coming from our teams. And we do have some Wii titles we've not announced at the show on the way.”

Eiji Aonuma, producer for Skyward Sword also said “Since we do have the [Legend of Zelda] 25th anniversary, I do want to make it the kind of game to close the Wii chapter on.”

Is Nintendo done with the Wii? it is hard to tell, but the product will be nearing the end of its life cycle, that is sure.

Kitguru says: Skyward Sword might very well be the last game for the Wii which has been developed by Nintendo.
