A24’s Elden Ring movie adaptation reportedly begins filming this week

FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is easily one of the biggest new IPs to have risen this decade, with the 2022 open-world action-RPG selling in excess of 30 million copies – jumping all the way up to 45 million when accounting for its Erd Tree DLC and Nightreign spin-off. In an effort to expand the IP further, it was officially announced last year that a film adaptation is in the works in partnership with A24. Though details remain light, filming for the much-anticipated project is reportedly set to begin this week.

As reported by the publication WorldofReel, A24’s Elden Ring film is gearing up to begin production, with reports claiming that sets are currently being built ahead of official filming some time this week.

The project was first announced last year alongside confirmation that the film will be written and directed by Alex Garland (with Peter Rice; Andrew Macdonald; Allon Reich and George R. R. Martin serving as producers).

Since then, we’ve gotten some ancillary details, including the fact that the film will star Kit Connor; Ben Whishaw; Cailee Spaeny – though their roles were not specified. Additionally, Garland confirmed that the script spans 160 pages and includes an extra 40 pages of visuals.

Elden Ring Filming

Alex Garland, for context, has directed a number of well-known projects including 2014’s Ex Machina; 2018’s Annihilation and most recently 2025’s Warfare. As a writer, Garland is known for the 28 Days Later franchise, while also having worked in the video games space; contributing to 2013’s DMC: Devil May Cry.

The narrative of Elden Ring (as with all FromSoftware games) is secondary to its lore, world and overall vibes. As such, it will be interesting to see how Garland and co. choose to adapt this game into a live-action medium. Hopefully we will start to see some set photos being released sooner rather than later.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
