Star Wars Outlaws set for major updates under new Creative Director

Ubisoft's future plans have changed dramatically following the feedback from Star Wars Outlaws' launch. At this stage, Ubisoft has restructured its entire DLC model, and other projects have been delayed to avoid day-one issues. Now, Star Wars Outlaws even has a new creative director, and it sounds like some huge changes are on the way for the game.

Drew Rechner is the new Creative Director for Star Wars Outlaws, overseeing post-launch updates and DLCs. Rechner is already hard at work, having confirmed three key areas of focus for the team as they develop further updates for the game.

This includes an overhaul for combat to add more depth and create a more rewarding experience for those playing with tactics and precision. Additionally, while some big changes to stealth missions have already landed in Outlaws, Rechner says that further changes to stealth systems are planned. A key point of emphasis will be restructuring missions to allow for more player choice when it comes to taking on enemies.

The final main area of focus is centred around the reliability of character controls. The team wants to ensure consistency when entering cover and create more responsive gameplay when climbing, crouching and performing other movements.

More information on all of this will be shared after the launch of Patch 1.4, which rolls out on the 21st of November – the same day that Star Wars Outlaws comes to Steam. From the sounds of it though, there are some ambitious ideas for changes to this game, and getting everything in could be a lengthy, multi-year process.

KitGuru Says: It sounds like Star Wars Outlaws will be a much better game in August 2025, compared to August 2024. With so many big updates coming, it is likely worth holding off on picking up the game for another six months.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
